Severity in terms of number, nature and/or duration of symptoms. Psychosis: condition constituting being out of touch with, or having a distorted view of reality typically in the form of hallucinations and/or delusions. Schizophrenia on the severe end of that spectrum. Schizotypal pd (sometimes a precursor to schizophrenia but not always) Brief psychotic disorder (between 1d and 1m ie. remits within that span of time) Schizophreniform disorder ( between 1-6m, does not require decline in functioning to meet criteria, time limited form) Schizophrenia (>6m and include at least 1 month of active phase symptoms) Delusions: false beliefs which are held with conviction despite there being no confirming (or even plenty of disconfirming) evidence or logic. Can be some range in how oriented to the logic behind the delusions someone is (insight)
