Soc final review: there are many ways to know the social world: science, tradition, authority, faith, observation, Not all ways of knowing are equally valid and/or reliable. Some ways of knowing are especially privileged: e. g. science: the theory of knowledge. Questioning how we know what we know through empirical evidence: the study of the nature of knowledge (methods, validity, scope). It can also be connected to the reasoning behind understanding biographical context of sociological thinkers because of what can be gained when we know where knowledge comes from and why we should question it. Who says what, where does the information come from, and should we believe them: the science of knowing, equal outcome is the opposite of a meritocracy. This highlights our understanding of power (physical barriers - glass ceiling etc). Social inequality: text definition: involves such concerns as the gap between the rich and the poor, or the advantage and the disadvantaged.
