Hereditary, biology, genetic, inherited, inborn, pre-wired, innate. Researchers who see development as a function of experience tend to see development as continuous and gradual. Researchers who focus on biological maturation see spurts of growth and other changes that make one stage of development very different from another. At each prenatal stage, genetic and environmental factors affect our development. At 6 months, fetus is responsive to sound and exposed to the sounds of its mother"s muffled voice. Immediately after birth, prefer to hear mother"s voice and prefer hearing mother"s language. Pregnancy week 29 until birth: learning group exposed to nonsense syllable tatata in womb, control group not exposed to this novel speech in womb. Results: finnish newborns in the learning group displayed brain wave recognition when hearing the word after birth.
