If damage occurs below the decussation point it affects the same of the brain. If damage occurs above the decussate point it will affect the oppposite side of the brain -unilateral. More difficultly with this: we do(cid:374)"t have largest (cid:272)er. So that if damage occurs to the left side of the brain the body can still function on the left side still has some response. Forebrain: diencephalon: thalamus and hypothalamus, thalamus - integrating motor information -relay centre where all the highways connect. Lots of tiny nuclei large bc lots of information all sensory info comes in and projected to proper regions of brain. Psyc 351d sept 15: what ventral stream: colour texture, where steam dorsal: damage to this area can disorient patients and they have difficulty with special organization.
