We have now completed five classes in operations, half of the fall curriculum; and it is appropriate that i provide you with some feedback on your contribution. Beginning in the first class i have graded your contribution with the input of your colleagues. For each class a grade is assigned from 0 to 4. Rarely, if a student has been disruptive or counterproductive to the class, a grade of -1 can be assigned (this has not occurred to date). Any contribution that advances the classroom discussion is awarded a 1 with higher grades for higher quality comments. If a comment does not add anything new to the discussion, or shows a lack of preparation a grade of 0 will be awarded. The distribution of total contribution for each student over the first five classes is included below. These contribution scores have not been adjusted for excusable absences or converted to a grade.
