Cinema/hollywood renaissance: it"s when young people"s opinions became important, first generation fresh out of film school knowledgeable scholars. Influenced by the counterculture movement, french new wave, european cinema. Films tended to be discomforting, their narratives didn"t have conclusions: easy rider. Dealt with the failure of the hippie culture and a new progressive society without racism, war and bad politicians. Basically says the 60"s didn"t add up to what the counterculture wanted it to become. Made extremely cheaply changed how films were made and how much they were made for. Changed how much money was invested into making movies: blaxplotation. Sweet sweetback, shaft, foxy brown, black dynamite. Trend went from an important movement to just another overused trend. Hollywood capitalized it and took out all the meaning just played up african. American stereotypes: golden age of porn/porno chic: porn industry trying to capitalize the disappearance of classical hollywood.
