Culture can be perceived as artistic and intellectual product of elites. Sign systems - codes - in all human creations (there are rules - whether formal or informal, embedded in society, of what is/isn"t acceptable) **landscapes are also an example of a cultural code (i. e. the way we organize our space/land tells us something about our culture) Geographers literally learn to read, interpret or decode the arrangement in space of human activities and actions (i. e. how you/others behave in certain spaces). Cultural landscape i therefore a key concept in geography.
