Weather-is the state of the atmosphere at a specific time and place. Elements of weather, which include atmospheric pressure, clouds, precipitation, wind, temperature, and humidity. While weather depicts the conditions at a moment in time, climate is based on decades" worth of data. The largest scale we consider in climatology is the planetary scale; the average temperature of our planet is currently just below 15 c. The four major parts of the earth- atmosphere system are the lithosphere, the biosphere , the hydrosphere (ice is cryosphere), and, of course, the atmosphere itself. Respiration- the life process in which oxygen is removed from the atmosphere and carbon dioxide is returned. Feedback effect- a mechanism that operates within a system to either amplify or lessen an initial change. Variable gases (h20, co2, ch4, 03, co, so2, n20) Water vapour ~ 0. 25% 0-5% by volume. Carbon goes from atmosphere to lithosphere (rock) hydrostatic equilibrium- atmosphere stays in place due to gravity.
