DAY 1: Scoring Points: 0-love 15-1 30-2 40-3 Games: By ones eg. 2 games to 1 Set: Up to six win by 2 6-0 6-1 6-2 6-3 6-4 7-5 7-6 Match: 2 out of 3 sets eg. 6-0, 7-5 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 You serve whole game After the toss: Serve Receive Side Double fault Ace Service winner Always serve from deuce side first (right side-even points) other is Ad side Always servers score first Server serves whole game, then opponent in next game Tie 40-40 called deuce Server wins point at Deuce (add in) Opponent wins at deuce (add out) First game then every two games you change ends 5 sets, best 3 of 5….. in grand slams, men play 3 out of 5… 5 game no tie breaker in last set, must win by 2 games (Wimbledon, Australian, French…only some majors) Traditionally women have longer rallies DAY 2: Singles Strategy: 1. Keep the ball in play 2. Placement  deep and cross court 3. Weakness  backhand 4. Short balls, approach net (pressure)  passing shot/lob 3 Styles of Play 1. Baseliner – like to stay back, can run, good forehand backhand, not best serve, not best at net (nadal, most women) (better on slow surface) 2.
