1792- war and the second revolution: the goals of the girondins were to make the revolution universal and not just limited to france in accordance with the ideals of the enlightenment. Jacobins goals were to turn france from a constitutional monarchy into a republic. The jacobins cared more about social reform then private property. They wanted to interfere with the free market by imposing price controls on food: some of the difficulties the new assembly faced were the economy, international, and domestic threats. The economy was in disorder and there were food shortages in many areas. The monarchs of europe were making threatening statements and many people believe the emigres were planning to overthrow the revolution. As well there is instability in paris, and the working class still distrustful of the assembly. Though serfs were freed they still had no money and there were food shortages.
