Briefly describe the background of the male youth street culture article. There was a growing concern about youth and how they spent their leisure time (i. e. drinking, smoking, etc. ) which was brought to media attention and caused moral panic. Study was done within public housing in scotland and curfews were placed on individuals under the age of 16 due to the moral panic. Aim was to use a more contextualized understanding of the complexities of this specific youth culture and health-relevant behaviours. The hamilton experiment has occurred in scotland where there is a curfew for youth under. 16 living in public housing, which also allows police to confiscate alcohol from anyone under. 18 and anyone over 18 intending to share it with someone who is underage. They wanted to understand the meanings and motivations of the young people on the streets. Allows them to gain insight into the diverse and shifting contexts in which their health- related behaviour occurs.
