When it comes to size, shape, and body make-up, we all have individual differences. Human variability - one clown is taller and one is shorter, there are different sizes that need to be accounted for in the work environment (like buildings, doors, chairs) Derived from the greek words anthropos , meaning man and metron, meaning to measure. Anthropometry is the study of individual variation in human dimension. This science deals with the measurement of size, mass, shape, reach, and inertial properties of the human body for occupational, recreational, and design purposes. Health and safety perspective as well as a product design point of view. As a manufacturer we want to design a chair that works for the majority of the general population and correct for different sizes. Structural data: consists of the basic dimensions of the human body in both standing and sitting positions.
