Average wt 3400 g ( 10% in 1st few days & regained by. 2nd week) then after 1 month 226-455 g weekly. Length 50 cm w 0. 6-2. 5 cm weekly after 1 month. Head circumference 35 cm 2 cm weekly after 1 month. Resp rate via abdominal movements 30-60 bpm. Fine motor skills also develop scribbling onward. Rapid motor development supporting independent feeding, dressing, & toileting. Walk w broad stance & gait: arms out to sides for balance. Running, jumping, standing on 1 foot, kick ball, ride trike as progress through the stage. Growth slower now than since birth but steady. Wt 2-3 kg/yr: average 6 yr old = 40 kg: many double birth weight during these middle childhood years. Become more graceful in gross motor skills.
