Some argue that god is all powerful, some argue that the existence of evil means that. If god permits evil, he must not be all powerful, knowing, etc. This is the best world because god chooses the best world. It is false that the best world is free from evil. Evil is accompanied by a greater good, and god allowed evil so we could realize this and produce as much good as we can. God gave us free will, which can cause evil, but on balance a world with free will is better than one without. There can be no fact that exists without sufficient reason. There is a reason why this is the best world, we are just not aware of it. This world has the greatest surplus of perfection. Metaphysical perfection: everything in harmony, fitting together, etc. Moral perfection: the perfection of certain essential human capacities. Perfection involves virtue and knowledge and knowledge is inherently pleasurable.
