Why is it important for philosophy and the philosophy. Through experience, we will see that just people who act morally will be rewarded while unjust men will receive punishment: greatest portray of reward/punishment is displayed in the afterlife of an individual. Er was a soldier who was recognized as being very brave: he died in battle. After his death he his body was returned to his home town where a funeral was held: during the funeral, they realize that er has not actually died. Er was sent to heaven to watch what occurs there and was then required to report his sightings back to those down on earth. Er reported seeing two people who acted as judges , who determined whether humans exiting earth would continue into heaven or hell: judgements were based off of the actions people took throughout their life. Bad actions lead to hell while good actions lead to heaven.
