Carl jung (karl gustav ii jung) was born in kesswil, switzerland, on july 26, 1875. His father was paul jung, a country pastor, and his mother was emilie preiswerk jung. He was the youngest yet only surviving child out of four. At the age of four, the family moved to basel. Two years later, carl went to the village school in klein-huningen. His childhood was a lonely one; he later described himself as a solitary child, saying that he was most happy when he was isolated with his thoughts. Jung started developing interest in literature and ancient languages like latin. When he was 12, he found himself being object of trouble. He was harassed by one of his classmates to the point where he lost consciousness. Later on he developed a tendency to faint under pressure and used it as an excuse, considering he didn"t care much about school.
