When x-rays travel into the body, the electrons around atoms interact around different modes of interaction and then these are what deposit it in teh tissue (using it gray) To treat cancer, the very loalized deposit of energy will target tumour dna and introduce damage into tumour dna which causes the cell to self destruct. The interaciton between x- ray and dna is what causes the anti cancer effect. Number of technology to deliver radiation - external beam which is xray beemed from teh outside whereas brachytherapy is putting high energy dirrectly in the cells.
