Document Summary

Environmental level: past and current social environment. Makes up 2% of body weight but uses 20% of the function. Never rests actually uses more energy when we are dreaming. There are 100 billion neurons and a total of 1 quadrillion connections (10^15 or 16 zeros) That means that there are about 10,000 connections per neurons. Groups of connection neurons are called neural circuits. Excitatory neurons: make the post-synaptic neuron more likely to fire. The post-synaptic neuron is almost always the association neuron it basically tallies the amount of excitatory signals and subtracts the number of inhibitory signals and if the sum is high enough the association neuron will fire. The association neuron decides on the response by either firing or not firing. Inhibitory neurons: make the post-synaptic neuron less likely to fire: motor neurons: sends signals from your brain (that have gone through an association or inter-neuron) and sends it to muscles or organs.
