Discourse: how things are talked about and understood. Youth crime was beginning to be seen as major issue in 90s. In 2000s school violence was added to horrors of youth behaviour. Politics of youth crime: the ways in which youth crime is understood and talked about, both formally and informally, and the action, laws and policies that derive from this discourse. Interesting to examine the focus on youth crime when adult crime is much more prevalent. 2/3 of articles about youth were crime related (toronto) The prompted many canadians to express their opinions on today"s youth . General consensus seemed to be that the youth justice inter the yoa was a slap on the wrist . Politicians used this platform by presenting this in their campaigns.
