Histogram to represent the distribution of word length in the speech. As a class our sampling strategies overestimated the real mean. This is cause we had bias and favoured larger words, resulting in a bad sample. Systematic favouritism in the data selection process, resulting in misleading results. Simple random sample (srs): all possible combinations are equally likely to be chosen. Srs is unbiased resulting in best sample to represent the population. Sampling error: difference between sample statistics and the true population parameter. Sampling error is not a mistake, its not bad. We use error as a term to describe the difference. Random sampling isn"t the same as simple random sampling.
