Document Summary

Hydrocycle - most water is stored in the oceans and water bodies. Landscape modification and hardening of the surface of the earth. Modification to other cycles that affect water. Respiration- co2 produced from consumers is released into the atmosphere. Decomposition- the decomposition of living organisms to over thousands of years turn into carbon. Produce large amounts of co2 from fossil fuel consumption. Nitrogen cycle - it"s an atmospheric cycle and the main storage is the atmosphere. Nitrification- in this process bacteria convert nitrogen to ammonia to be used by plants. Denetrification- anaerobic bacteria convert ammonia back to nitrate to be released in the atmosphere again. Fossil fuel consumption-release of nitric oxide leads to acid rain. Release of stored nitrogen in plants (deforestation). Livestock waste leads to an increase in greenhouse gasses. Addition of nitrogen as fertilizer and municipal wastes (sewage) to aquatic systems. Harvest crops agricultural practices remove nitrogen from soil system. Shift in species biodiversity to nitrogen-loving species.
