MU121 Midterm: midterm review
Document Summary
Considered to be the first rock and roll song. By jackie brenston and by sam phillips (elvis presley"s first producer) A simple verse form contains no chorus or bridge sections, though the verses may contain a refrain. Irregular verse 2 (8 measures instead of 12) which slightly alters the structure found in other sections. Instruments: piano, drums, saxophones, solo vocals, distorted electric guitar playing a repeated boogie-woogie pattern. Twelve bar blues: is a structure that forms the musical basis for many verses, choruses and even bridges in rock music. It can be divided into three 4-bar phrases. The lyrics to the first phrase are frequently repeated in the second phrase, with new lyrics appearing in the third phase, creating a kind of question/question repeated/answer model as the words unfold. The twelve bar blues also employs a specific arrangement of chords and this is explained in greater detail in interlude. Doo-wop progression: can form the underlying structure for many forms.
