Activity related to influencing, making, or implementing, collective decisions for a political community. Different groups who want different things - hard to determine how things are implemented. About the process we come to to decide how to divide these resources up. Politics is about what groups get what they want and what groups have to wait. Example : society made the decision that students should pay more for their tuition. So, politics is not just about resolving conflicts over values and world views. Political conflict originates over scarce resources and/or different values. Resolves conflicts - most important mechanism for resolving conflicts is government. It involves a struggle between groups in society who want different things. Involves conflict - over values, money, process (rarely violent) The make the decision and enforce the decision. At the global level, we don"t have a government. The middle east is the centre of global conflict currently.
