Going through these 2 articles helped me finalize my thoughts on whose claim was more
compelling from both of the authors opinions stated throughout the article. Chandler’s article
stated that having a bigger company is much better which I find very true because whenever a
“company” is considered huge it will also be classified as successful. At the end of the day
having success is what matters when it comes to business competing in a certain market.
Chandler’s article provided valuable statements such as, in order to compete with companies
globally growth and expansions is crucial. Owning a global company that decided to expand
with other business around the world helps to see what the company needs to improve and what
other companies are doing better to stay on top of the line.
Although small is better when is comes to management but I think in business one of the most
important things is evolving your company and improving/ expanding on the things you are
already doing. What also interested me in chandler’s article is that economies of scale & scope
lower the cost when producing the products. This is important because companies can generate
profit and remarkable success under the circumstance of the company being big. One of the
things that stood out in Schumache’s article was that he mentioned, large units break into small
units which in my opinion this cause a lot of management failure because it certainly will be
double the trouble organizing them.
In summation, after all the assumptions and crucial key point that is stated above, chandler’s
claim “bigger is better” is certainly the “better” claim.
