In today"s society, information is of high importance as it affects individuals and their communities in all aspects of their lives as information helps to shape their views of the world and how they react to it. Canadian society is doing a greater amount of harm than it is good. Not only does media concentration result in downsizing and loss of jobs, it affects the population by narrowing their views on world events as they have limited outlets from which to gather information. The concentration of media ownership whether it be at the national level or at the global level has become a serious and of increasing concern for canadians. With the growing concern, a number of undesired results may follow. The purpose of this paper will primarily be to analyze and highlight the impacts of the concentration of media ownership throughout canada as well as why there is concentration of media ownership and what it"s possible objectives are.
