The armada war project provided students with the opportunity to situate themselves as one of the historical figures fighting in the war. Regardless of which figure was focused on, we were required to confront our modern ignorance and consider plausibility prior to deciding on a war plan. As a result, it was quite difficult to plan according to the solid facts provided. In terms of handling historical ignorance, i read mattingly"s work and several other secondary sources quite differently than i would have read any other book. By taking the facts and not reading so deeply into them, i was able to gather enough information to understand the events of the armada, and to prevent myself from succumbing to their simplicity. As a result, i took notes and questioned several motives and actions while i read mattingly"s work, which assisted me in remaining mindful of the events as a whole.
