Document Summary

Journal of health politics, policy & law 25(5), 889-897. As a developed country, canada s healthcare system has taken several years to grow and has proven to provide great medical assistance to patients. It provides one of the best therapeutic care, in comparison to other parts of the world, however, still lacks in other forms of health such as dentistry. The system contains private practitioners, who are more than often self-employed whereas the remaining are employed and owned by others. To further explain, since doctors are self-employed and not government employees- the federal government is responsible for providing fiscal transfers to each province for running the healthcare system. However, these fiscal transfers may be cut short when a province does not follow the five principles of medicare; which are essentially rules to ensure that all patients are granted to access and the treatment of healthcare.
