Absolute and relative poverty- relative poverty is people below the standards of living. They are living off welfare and a very low income. Absolute poverty is when a person has absolutely nothing. There is no house and no essentials of living. Chinese head tax- a tax implemented on chinese people coming to canada to work on the railway. It was used to discourage too many chinese families here. Mostly single men would come over because it would be too expensive to bring over families. Conflict theory- stemmed from marxism, there is competition over scarce resources and people are constantly struggling for resources. The way to change society is through a revolution. Critical race theory- an examination of how race and prejudices and stereotypes are implemented on society when it comes to the law and rules. It also looks on how racial powers are maintained over time such as white supremacy.
