The tomato trail refers to the mexican labourers who work to regulate fresh tomatoes in the farms of mexico, which will be exported to canadian supermarkets, which will be used in american restaurants. The tomato trails consist of several job roles such as planting and picking, and are often performed under tedious working conditions. Not only are they planted by mexican labourers, they are also brought into canada by them, as well. The importance of this topic is to show us the ways that globalization has brought a negative influence on the ways that migrant labourers are treated by the canadian government. These workers are only brought to canada to serve as (cid:498)cheap labour(cid:499), only for the benefit of the canadian government. Many of the workers contend with heat, physical excursion, harsh chemical exposure and racism.
