The exam will focus on materials from the lectures, and any materials from the readings that were covered in the lectures. Anything not covered in the lectures but in the readings is not on the exam. There will be 75-100 multiple choice questions, distributed more or less evenly through all of the reading topics. Use your lecture summaries as a guide as i focus on the issues covered in the summaries when i"m putting together the questions. The final exam for the course is cumulative, it will cover all the readings: Evrenden: the environmental movement and inherent or essential versus pragmatic value. Martin: anthropogenic extinction of ancient mammals, past controversies, cause and correlation. Dorn: early civilization, agriculture and the hydrological hypothesis. Newell: copper pollution, undeveloped science and the law. Noble: union of industry, science and technology, science as a source of new processes and products. Greene: horses as a mode of transportation, horses as technology, unintended consequences of technological change.
