It is important because it is democratic in the sense that we choose the parliament candidates, and they should not create their own laws because they"re in a position of power. Responsible government: an executive/cabinet that is responsible to an elected assembly rather than a monarch. Pluralism: a view that society is composed of groups. There should be competing centres of power in society, so that a new marketplace for ideas can come about. Thought that we could live in a state of nature with morals and regulate our passions. Maintained that origin of government is from the consent of governed. Sovereign should have limitations; men who make the laws are subject to them.
