Discuss this statement in reference to canadian policies since 1945. Canada is a part of international politics and relations which has had a definite impact on the power of canadian legislatures. This has created a kind of external constitution which canada must abide by alongside the constitution. Pension act established in 1952: it did not work for long though, and spiralled out of control. Keynesian welfare state accumulated a great national debt: stagflation, oil crises began to cut social programs (major ideological shift, from this emerged neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism which advocated withdrawal of government from economic policy. By deregulation, privatization, deficit cutting, cutting social programs. Neoliberalism advocates globalization: globalization and policies/state agreement affect the way canada creates its own state policies, international institutions like world trade organization have economic sanctions if a state refuses to comply with the agreement. Globalization leads to interdependence of ngo"s which makes them rely on each other for economic purpose.
