The europeans were tolerated and the french were able to develop a cooperative relationship with the huron. These stages of cooperation did not take place at the same time all throughout canada, but it was definitely the first stage after contact. However, this cooperation did not last as the euro-canadians eventually desired for the native land. There was an increase of white settlement and there were resources on the aboriginal land. As a result, there was a long phase of coercion.
