Native history did not originally start off with coercion, like most people think. When the europeans arrived in canada and met the native americans, there was peace, as the natives tolerated them. This was because the europeans had things that the natives desired, such as iron and alcohol. There was trading between the two groups, but unfortunately, disease also spread to the natives, which proved to be very deadly. It is not until there was a fight for the land where history started leading into coercion. Europeans wanted the land for the resources and there was competition between everyone, even pitting.
