Part i: motivation (+) definition: motives are needs, wants, interests that propel people in certain direction. => comes in order once the lower needs are satisfied. Wanting to succeed and trying hard: need for affiliation. Wanting to be accepted by others, winning friends. The need for belonging => social contact: intimacy. Warmth, close exchange with a significant partner: need for power. Wanting to have an impact (make a real difference or being dominant) (+) social determination theory. People are most fulfilled when they engage in activities independent (in control) + competent (worthy) + connected. Something they choose to do, have autonomy. Activities that meet self-determination, self-worth and connection are the most meaningful. Controlled by the hypothalamus sensitive to circulating hormones. Glucose in your blood => impulses towards eating. Reading in your blood stream, how much fat you need to get. Stomach sends signal to the brain based on distension of stomach wall + richness of nutrients in stomach => subconscious.
