1. Mythistory: (Mcneil + Zinn)
The combination of myth and history was recognized by McNeil. He stated
how these terms are related as they both tell how things got to be the way
they are by telling a story. Mythhistory are multi perspetives on a story. By
combining these two words, he suggests that history as we know it is not
completely truth. Reading Zinn, one can the significance of mythhistory
suggested by McNeil. Zinn tells the sotry of Columbus. Zin wrote about the
cruelty and greediness of Columbus and his people. People were astoned to
hear that story as they were told a different story where Columbus was a hero,
and the negative facts weren’t told and poisitves were emphasized. Thus,
everything you read is based on certain myths.

key to social development. The role of the government is to regulate the marketplace and
ensure that the rules are fair and equitable: government is not itself an economic actor in

Honour was introduced by Campbell in the article of Greek Mountain.
Honour was described as ones place in society deemed by presitage and is
judged differently in different society, for example traditional and modern.
An example was hsown when Campbell presented the concept of an
honourable man and female. Men retain their honour by being dominant

Legitimation Function Legitimation function refers to the process whereby an act, process of ideology
becomes legitimate by its attachment to norms and values within a given society. It is
how something becomes part of society and becomes an societal norm. It is the process of
making an ideology acceptable and normative to the group. An example can be seen in
Marx as he had an socialist ideology and the soviet union adapted to the ideology to
become legitimate social structure.
This theory was coined by Karl Marx, where he believed that the real wages of
the working class will constantly decline as they become increasingly alienated from the
means of production. Marx argues immersation will become the primer for the proletariat
revolution overthrowing bourgeouise and giving power to working class. It is the
exploitation of workers, but most important is alienating those workers in the mean of
production. It is aleinating workers for the good they produce, and giving no control on
how the production is executed. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, it is the
dehuminzation of the workforce by providing sweat shops.
Creative Destruction is an economic term that was mentioned in Heilbroner. It
was a terminology that was introduced when capitalism came to exist. Joseph
Schumpeter describes how capitalism and economic development arises from the
destruction from previous economic order. Creative destruction is a process in which old
ways get replaced by new ways. German economist Werner Sombert believes it is the
idea that capitalism destroys and reconfigures previous economic order and devalues
existing wealth. Schumpter gives Microsoft and Intel as an example, when these two
firms rise, other companies were destroyes. Even though other companies were ruined,
one of the biggest inventions of the century was created.
