Document Summary

Although society has adapted theoretical models of disability to assist individuals in meeting their needs and overcoming their struggles, they have dismissed those models in particular that have studied on disability. Disability is a disease that is presented world-wide. Having their own interoperation can lead to issues like ableism-discrimination against the disability or impairment-where the minority are segregated and treated accordingly to what another believes is impairment. Society has tried to tackle these issues and set standards accordingly to their perception of the topic. World health organization (who) whose purpose is to prevent diseases and bring forward laws is an example of the standards we must act on accordingly. However, if laws are put into place and society is not adapting to them, then individuals cannot flourish from the benefits. The theoretical models that will be analyzed are: the archaic model, the medical model, the social model, the interactional model, and the consumption model.
