The canadian muliculturalism act was enforced in bill c-93 in 1988. It helps canadians of all ethniciies and cultures to be recognized as full paricipants in society. It also ideniies the signiicance of enhancing mulicultural heritage in canada. The signiicance of this act is to simply provide equal treatment amongst all canadians, including aboriginals. It signiicantly created a mutual respect between ethniciies and also acceptance of one"s personal beliefs . The law provides equality, enhancement and respect to the canadian populaion by enforcing the canadian muliculturalism act by the federal government. Contemporary points system and supposed gender/race neutral law. Preferred immigrants from europe and unites states. Need certain points to immigrate as a non-refugee. You get points for diferent categories: occupaion, educaion, level of educaion, skills, age - it was seem as neutral and non-discriminatory. However, there are very sexist and racist undertones. The points for skills and educaions were jobs associated with men.
