Social assistance for people who are out of options benefits were finally provided for unwed mothers spot checks would continue to ensure moral life was kept up moral policing, cleanliness of home, children"s school records etc. Social purity linked to purity of mind/body/soul (the pure life) Purity informed conceptions of nation, race, gender (eg pure nation/pure race: motherhood/maternal ideology associated with pure womanhood/social policy reforms, the freedom of higher wages believed women living alone would engage in sexual relationships.
