Document Summary

All animals have dna, rna, protein, transcription, translation, genetic code. Gene expression: recombinant dna and when dna is transferred from one to another. Gene cloning ( gmo - genetically modified organism ) Donor cell removed and grown in a culture. Remove nucleus + put nucleus dna from the other sheep. Planted this in a surrogate mother -- dolly born. Place insulin gene in plasmid (circular bacterial dna) End result: plasmid with insulin gene ( recombinant dna - dna from two organisms) A solution with segment dna is heated. Separates the double-stranded dna into two single ones. Enzyme dna polymerase added with free nucleotides while segment is cooled. The enzyme adds complementary bases to each single strang. Result is two identical copies of the original segment. Repeated again and again to have many copies. Mixture of dna fragments at the top. There"s a power source at the side. Longer fragments move slower, shorter fragments move faster.
