Mate references can drastically reduce, or even eliminate the amount of time it takes to mate commonly used components. A mate reference is a way to predefine a specific mate or mates for a component. These mates are then automatically added when you drag a component into an assembly. To mate the screw into this block, need to do concentric and coincident mate. Doing one is not too bad, but doing it for all of them can be tedious. To add mate reference to screw, go to screw part file: Now back in the assembly, open the file explorer, and if you drag back in assembly, it snaps into place. Just like you can add mate references to parts, you can also extract mate references from components that are already mated together in an assembly. The knob is already mated to the handle. Will edit the knob handle in the context of this assembly.
