Must occur on more days than not for at least 6 months. Phobias- intense, irrational fear that is very clearly related to a particular category of object or event. Panic disorder and agoraphobia- feeling of helpless terror. comes at unpredictable times, unprovoked. Panic attacks last several minutes and accompanied by high psychological arousal. Trauma-and stressor related disorders- associated with exposure to a traumatic or stressful event. Posttraumatic stress disorder- characterized by three major symptoms- uncontrollable re-experiencing, heightened arousal, and avoidance of trauma-related stimuli.
