Forbidding view of sex within the catholic church. Treatment of sex as sinful, good/bad sex in terms of morality, judgemental views on sex for women in particular. Women seen as passive/submissive vs men as active. Men have natural sexual urges that cannot be controlled/contained, although should be faithful & restrained. Cannot be responsible if they"re seduced into sinning by women. Women seen as pure and carnal, more associated with mothering than sexuality vs. women as temptresses and not passive. Adam & eve: eve tempts adam into sin. Overt female sexuality seen as problematic/sinful, scary & needs to be controlled. Nature of women"s bodies: women"s private parts seen as hidden & unknown vs. men as overt and on show. Women have been perceived as uninterested in politics compared to men. In la women being to organize and fight for right to education & vote.
