Plus-minus metrics are used in sports analytics to give a holistic view of how much a player contributes to a team"s success. Given raw play-by-play data, we want to calculate plus- minus metrics and play times for each player in the nba 2007-2008 season. Our code sweeps each game for player plus-minus metrics and play times. We then aggregated this data over all games and found player plus-minus metrics and play times for the entire season. We de ned the best player as the player with the highest season plus-minus metric who also meets a minimum play time threshold. Sports analytics is a growing and pro table industry. Coaches, players, o ces, and businesses use these analytics to make certain decisions on scoring touchdowns, signing contracts, and even preventing injuries. Sports fans like to look at these statistics to form their own fantasy league teams by using the players they think are best.
