Single member district: is a direct method of selecting representatives. States are divided into representative districts producing one winner who is a majority vote winner, and getting at least 50% of votes. If no one is a majority winner, there is a run-off election and the with most votes will win. Proportional representation: is an indirect method of selecting representatives. From each district, there are multiple winners in accordance to the proportion of the votes for each party. For example, for a district with 10 representatives with 3 political parties.
