Protein data bank (pdb): repository for protein structures. Given a sequence or fragment, sequences that are similar can be found in the database. Given protein structure, structures that are similar can be found in the database. Given sequence of protein of unknown structure, find structures in database that have similar 3d structure. Given protein structure, find sequences that go with similar structures in the database. Can identify homologous genes that are evolutionarily related in other organisms.
