People try to create truths from their own perspectives. The truths that we hold may be collections of our own biases. We must acknowledge that our perspective is likely incomplete and therefore seek out different vantage points to examine the world. ***power has the ability to influence the creation and assessment of knowledge. Nagel says we can understand how the brain operates, but we will never understand the functions of the brain. We can never really know what it"s like to be a bat. We can never know through science how other people perceive the world. Empathy comes from a place of good but can have negative implications because we are doing what we think someone else needs. What is knowledge: the person believes the statement to be true.
