Parenting is one of the most important influences on a child"s developmental process. Parenting is no easy task; especially to those who are new having a child. Having a virtual child was no easy task either. Diana baumrind focuses on four aspects of family functioning in order to classify the three patterns, or styles, of parenting (boyd 2012). Authoritative parenting is high in all four aspects of family functioning. Parents that are authoritative are high in both control and acceptance-setting clear limits but also responding to the child"s individual needs (boyd 2012). My parenting while doing my virtual child is described to be authoritative. Much of my parenting decisions for my virtual child were through the authoritative parenting style. I wanted my child to grow up knowing the rules and sticking to them, but i also wanted her to feel like she could talk to me about anything that she needed.
