Document Summary

If you change the structure you will change the function; both go hand and hand. Homeostasis- is the dynamic state of equilibrium. Involves the monitoring and regulation of all organs: communication is nessary in order to maintain. What are the things that control homeostasis: 1. Monitors and responds to the stimuli (senses change in temp, ph) Is like the boss at work- tells the (cid:862)people(cid:863) (cid:449)hat (cid:449)o(cid:396)k (cid:374)eeds to (cid:271)e do(cid:374)e. Determines the appropriate response that will fix the problem: 3. The employees- the o(cid:374)es (cid:862)doi(cid:374)g the (cid:272)ha(cid:374)ge(cid:863) maintaining homeostasis. Response either reduces (negative feedback) or (positive feedback) Negative feedback- reduces or shuts off the original stimulus. Most feedback in the body: ex: control of glucose by insulin. When blood sugar rises receptors send a signal to pancreas (control center). The pancreas then secretes insulin to the blood. More insulin= more absorption of glucose which makes a more homeostasis environment.
