Three questions we ask when we observe a play: There must be something to say (must be communication involved) Theatre can entertain and teach: something that makes you laugh/cry or teaches you something at the end. Theories for the origin of theatre: ritual believing to tradition ex: parades, desire to play, man"s desire to tell stories. Components that make up plot: exposition: introduction to the world of play, background information that is needed to properly understand it. (protagonist and antagonist introduced) Inciting incident: the initial event which triggers the rest of the story. : (internal) inside the head, how they view the world, own desires.
